Angel's Wings

Angel's Wings is the outreach program for Work and Worship Institute. We started raising money on Mother's Day Weekend five years ago by gift wrapping packages at Borders. Angel's Wings provides bus passes to homeless and low income folks through partner organizations. We distribute Bus Passes at Loaves and Fishes in Bloomington and Richfield, St. Stephens jobs program, Father's FIRST!, , Richfield Lutheran Church and Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
One receiptent wrote a Thank You note and said. "Thank you doesn't seem to even describe how much I appreciateed the MTC card given at the Creekside Center evening event 10/20/07. I had been using my funds on getting to MD's due to need for surgery and was surprised to receive such a great gift. Pleas let those who contribute know they are in my prayers." What a powerful message.
Many people have helped distribute bus passes, serve food, clean up and enjoy the company of the guests at Loaves and Fishes. The bus passes are distributed via a drawing and cheers go up at tables when someone wins one. It becomes a real event.
We continue to raise money with gift wrapping but have added craft fairs and Sweet Support Evenings. A Sweet Support Evening is where someone hosts a desert party and we inform their contacts about the program and ask for donations to support it.
